These are going to be two very long flights, but I’m finally going to see my family and friends after 9 months and a long-distance Christmas.

I’ll be in Miami for Mary’s wedding and time to enjoy my home until the 8th then I finally get to see NY again!

The downside to all of this is that Andrew was denied a visa once again. Basically it comes down to his nationality: South African. I thought the complication of dating a foreigner was the cost of flying back and forth to see our families, I didn’t realize even getting in would be an issue.

The interviewer asked Andrew about my last name. “It’s Cuban.” Followed by furious typing. It’s now on Andrew’s record that his girlfriend is Cuban. Not sure what that’ll mean for future applications.
